About Katchatheevu Island:
- Katchatheevu is an uninhabited island situated between Sri Lanka and India.
- This island has been under the Kings of Ramanathapuram in modern Tamil Nadu.
- During the British era, the island was administered by both India and SriLanka.
- However,in the early 20th century, Sri Lanka claimed territorial ownership over the Island.Hence, in 1974 India ceded the island to Sri Lanka through a joint agreement.
