CISF launches encyclopaedia to strengthen security services

  1. The Central Industrial Security Force(CISF) has launched an online encyclopedia called Securitypedia.
  2. Securitypedia is a website which incorporates a wide range of security related issues, best practices and latest technologies in the domain of security available across the world.
  3. Securitypedia is not just a static website containing data archives but is more of a dynamic platform where a force member can contribute by writing blogs on relevant security related professional issues.
  4. Further,just like Wikipedia,any member could post information or edit articles after citing authentic and verifiable sources.
  5. CISF has also launched a feature in Security Pedia called as CISF Tube where officials can find all videos relevant to CISF.
  6. The CISF has also established a technical lab at National Industrial Security Academy(NISA) in Hyderabad to maintain and update technical knowledge about the latest innovations in the field of safety and security that can be used in places like airports and government offices.
  7. The CISF is a Central Armed Police Force in India.It was set up under an Act of the Parliament of India in 1969.CISF was subsequently made an armed force by another Act of Parliament passed in 1983.
  8. CISF guards sensitive governmental buildings,the Delhi Metro and provides airport security.It is directly under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
