About the Underwater Metro Tunnel:
- The East West Metro Tunnel is an under construction underwater river tunnel in Kolkata, West Bengal.The tunnel will be first underwater river tunnel in India.
- The river tunnel is constructed underneath Hooghly river which will connect the twin cities of Howrah and Kolkata.It will carry 20% of the city’s population and will cross the river in less than a minute.
- The tunnel will be used by East West Metro Line for metro rail service and is being constructed by Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation.
