WIHG reveals 35 thousand-year history of river erosion in Ladakh Himalayas

News: Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG) revealed river erosion history in Ladakh Himalayas and also identified hotspots of erosion in the region.

Facts:

  • Location: Ladakh Himalaya forms a high altitude desert between Greater Himalayan ranges and Karakoram Ranges. 
  • Main Rivers: Indus and its tributaries.  The Zanskar River is one of the largest tributaries of the upper Indus catchment. Two major tributaries of the Zanskar River are the Doda and TsrapLingti Chu.
