India rebuts China on Modi’s visit to Arunachal

  1. The Ministry of External Affairs dismissed the opposition by China and asserted that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India. The opposition from China came after PM Modi’s recent visit to Arunachal Pradesh.
  2. The India-China border covering the 3,488 km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC) is disputed between India and China. China claims Arunachal Pradesh to be the part of its south Tibet. It had renamed six places in the state in April 2017 following Dalai Lama and various other Indian leaders’ visit to the state.
  3. LAC is a demarcation line that separates Indian-controlled territory from Chinese-controlled territory. The LAC traverses three areas — Western (Ladakh, Kashmir), middle (Uttarakhand, Himachal) and eastern (Sikkim, Arunachal).
