NASA heading back to the moon

  1. NASA will set foot on the moon ‘by 2028’ for the first time since Apollo 17 and plans to make a sustainable colony so astronauts can regularly travel back and forth from Earth.
  2. NASA aims to first land an unmanned vehicle on the Moon by 2024 and are now inviting bids from the private sector to build the probe.
  3. Apollo 17 was the final mission of NASA’s Apollo mission and the last mission in which humans traveled to and walked on the Moon.
  4. Recently,China’s Chang’e-4 lunar rover made the first-ever soft landing on the far side of the moon.The far side of the moon is the hemisphere that never faces Earth, due to the moon’s rotation. It is also referred as the “dark side of the moon”.
