Opposition Party has asked the Election
Commission to take action against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking out a
roadshow and giving speeches after voting. The opposition has alleged that the
Prime minister has violated the Model Code of Conduct.
Campaigning during the 48 hours leading up to
the end of polling in any polling area is not allowed under the Representation
of the People Act (RPA), 1951. RPA is an act of Parliament to provide for the
conduct of elections of the Houses of Parliament and to the House or. Houses of
the Legislature of each State, the qualifications and disqualifications for
membership of those houses.
Model code of Conduct (MCC) are the guidelines
issued by the Election Commission of India for conduct of political parties and
candidates during elections. The MCC comes into force immediately on the
announcement of the election schedule by the commission. The Code remains in
force till the end of the electoral process.
